Customizing the widget
Almost everything a visitor sees is configured per brand in the ZevWorkspace dashboard. Go to Settings → Brands and open your brand to edit its widget settings, grouped under Widget experience in the brand editor. The widget reads these settings every time it connects, so a change takes effect on the next page load with no code change and no redeploy.
The only things you set in code are the launcher options on the script tag.
Appearance
Section titled “Appearance”| Setting | What it controls |
|---|---|
| Brand color | The bubble fill, the panel header, and accents throughout the chat. |
| Logo | The avatar shown in the header and next to agent replies. Falls back to your brand initials. |
| Launcher shape | Circle for the classic round bubble, or Pill for a wider button with a “Chat” label. |
| Position | Which corner or side the bubble sits in. Six anchors: the four corners and the two vertical mid-edges. |
| Mobile position | An optional separate anchor for phones, useful for dodging a bottom navigation bar. |
Welcome and away messages
Section titled “Welcome and away messages”| Setting | What it controls |
|---|---|
| Welcome title | The greeting shown at the top of an empty conversation. |
| Welcome message | The short line under the greeting that invites the visitor to write. |
| Away message | The message shown when you are outside business hours. |
Business hours
Section titled “Business hours”Turn on business hours to set the days and times your team is available, along with a timezone. Outside those hours the widget shows your away message and a muted status, so visitors know to expect a reply later rather than instantly. Inside those hours the status reads as online.
Collecting identity
Section titled “Collecting identity”Decide whether and how the widget asks a visitor for their name and email.
| Mode | Behavior |
|---|---|
Inline | The visitor types first. A soft card then asks for their details mid-conversation. This is the default and the smoothest option. |
Pre-chat | A short form gates the composer. The visitor submits their details before they can type. |
None | The widget never asks. The visitor stays anonymous unless your site identifies them with the JavaScript API. |
Alongside the mode, you can toggle whether the widget asks for name, email, or both, and set a custom identity prompt to explain why you are asking.
Visibility
Section titled “Visibility”Control where the widget appears at all.
| Setting | Behavior |
|---|---|
| Hide on mobile | Removes the widget entirely on phones. |
| Hide on desktop | Removes the widget entirely on larger screens. |
| Hide when offline | Hides the widget outside business hours, when you cannot reply. |
Visitors can attach screenshots and documents by default, with per-file upload progress shown in the composer. If you would rather not accept uploads for a brand, turn on Disable file uploads and the paperclip is removed.
Next step
Section titled “Next step”To open the chat from your own button, or to control the bubble per device, see Custom launchers.
